About Prue
Prue is a conservator for works of art on paper, documents, and photographs. After graduating from the University of Canberra with a degree in Conservation of Cultural Materials, Prue was employed by the National Archives of Australia in their preservation section for over 15 years. She also worked for several years as the conservator for the library, rare book, and manuscript collections at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Now working in private practice, Prue continues to apply and develop her skills and knowledge in paper and photograph conservation as well as preventive aspects of collection care such as storage and collection management.
Prue paints watercolours in her spare time, creating illuminated initials and miniatures in Victorian gothic and medieval styles. She utilises materials as faithful as possible to those that would have been used originally, making the paints from pure pigments, gum arabic, and water. She paints on both parchment and paper.
